 2023 Preview 


       Cedar Bluff completed the 2022 season with a 4-7 record. With their 2-4 region record and a fourth place finish in Class 1A region seven, the Tigers earned a spot in the playoffs in 2022. Cedar Bluff's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Meek by a score of 46-6.

       Cedar Bluff took a step backwards last year with their first losing season since 2013. The Tigers lost as many games as in any season since 2000.

       Cedar Bluff was inconsistent offensively last year and they need some improvement if the Tigers want to be competitive. They only averaged 19.6 points a game.

       Since 2010, Cedar Bluff has gone a combined 94-56. Their 62.7% winning percentage ranks 13th in Class 1A over the past thirteen seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Cedar Bluff has managed to compile a record of 195-102. Their 66.0% winning percentage ranks 10th in Class 1A and 61st in the AHSAA.




       The Tigers will be under the direction of new head football coach Garrett Crane as they enter the 2023 season.  Coach Crane has been an assistant on the football staff for the past several years in a variety of duties, including keeping stats to coaching the lines to being offensive coordinator the past two years under former head coach Alan Beckett.

       The Tigers could find themselves challenging for one of the playoff spots for region seven this season with a few breaks and a little improvement. They have managed to qualify for the playoffs every year since 2013 and hopes are high to extend that streak.

       The Tigers open the 2023 season on the road against non-region opponent Winterboro on Thursday, August 24 at Bulldog Stadium. Last year the Winterboro Bulldogs finished with an overall record of 3-7 and in sixth place in Class 1A region six. The Bulldogs ended last season on a positive note with a win over Childersburg by a score of 38-21 after failing to gain a playoff spot.

       Cedar Bluff and Winterboro have met a total of 3 times on the football field. The Tigers have a 2-1-0 record against the Bulldogs. They last met in 2022 with Cedar Bluff winning by a score of 22-20.

       Cedar Bluff lost 1A All-State  offensive lineman Dylan Kinard to graduation. He was named to the second team last season.

  


Great Moments in Alabama High School Football History

Parrish scored a record 77 points in a playoff game against Cedar Bluff in 2001. The Tornados were shutout the following week 19-0 by Courtland.
